An Egyptian basketball player has broken two Guinness World Records in one day, according to UPI Odd News.
Alie Wessam, 21, set the mark for the farthest basketball hook shot at 82 feet and 10 inches. He also claimed the record for the farthest basketball shot made backwards, landing a shot from 90 feet and 6 inches.
The backward-shot record had previously been held by Harlem Globetrotters star Corey "Thunder" Law, who made a shot from 87 feet and 8 inches in 2024.
Wessam, who played for the Egyptian National Basketball Team, told Guinness World Records that breaking one of the Globetrotters' records was something he never expected as a child watching them play. He said he respects what they have achieved and would like to go after more of their records in the future.
