Modest Mouse says guitarist Simon O'Connor will not be joining the band on its upcoming tour, according to Stereogum.
The announcement comes after a 17-year-old fan accused O'Connor earlier this week of sending inappropriate messages and shared screenshots of those messages on Reddit. O'Connor responded in a Reddit post of his own, saying he had mistaken the teen's Instagram account for someone else's.
In its Instagram message, Modest Mouse did not mention the allegations directly. The band said O'Connor will be replaced by Les Savy Fav guitarist Seth Jabour.
O'Connor joined Modest Mouse in 2021 and played on and co-wrote the band's latest album, An Eraser And A Maze. The group has been touring behind the record since early June, and the tour is scheduled to resume Aug. 4 in Ojai, California.
