Matt Damon is sharing more about life with wife Luciana Barroso Damon and their four daughters, saying that family remains his priority no matter how far his work takes him. According to E! News, Damon recently brought the family along to the London premiere of The Odyssey, where he plays the title character in Christopher Nolan’s epic film.
Damon told People that the production required major sacrifices from his family, especially during the lengthy and demanding shoot. He said he was especially excited for his daughters to see the movie after spending so much time away during filming.
The actor also said it meant a lot when one of his daughters told him she was proud after watching the film. Damon said that kind of reaction mattered to him because the family jokes around so much that hearing praise like that was unexpected.
According to E! News, Damon met Barroso in Miami in 2003 when she was working as a bartender while he was filming Stuck on You. The couple married in 2005, and Damon became a father figure to Barroso’s daughter Alexia before they later welcomed three more daughters together.
Damon has often credited Barroso with keeping their household running while he works, and the family once followed a rule that they would not go more than two weeks without seeing each other. He said that rule was temporarily broken for one project before being restored, and he has also spoken about wanting to make sure his children appreciate what they have as they grow up.
