A Maryland woman says her husband's research helped lead the couple to a $500,000 win on a scratch-off ticket, according to UPI Odd News and Maryland Lottery officials.
The Dundalk woman said she and her husband regularly play the lottery together because they enjoy it as a shared activity. She said they had previously won $500, but this latest prize was on another level.
According to the husband, he had checked the Maryland Lottery website and saw that the Gifts of Green game still had some top prizes available. He asked his wife to pick up that specific scratch-off when she went to the store in late June.
She bought two tickets, and the couple scratched them off together at home. The wife said she could hardly believe it when she saw the $500,000 prize, while her husband said he could tell it was a big win by the sound of her voice.
The couple said they plan to use the money for a new vehicle and to help with retirement savings. The wife said the prize eases some of the concerns they had about how retirement would work.
