Mike and Ike have introduced mascots for the first time since the candy brand launched in 1940, according to E! News.
The new campaign, directed by Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson, shows Mike and Ike as pink and green beans portrayed by Abby Vatterott and Yoshi Barrigas. In the ad, the pair helps people deal with everyday problems.
Thompson said in a press release that he liked how the campaign puts common life moments into Mike and Ike’s point of view. He described the characters as funny, a little absurd, and relatable.
Not every fan was focused on the new mascots, though. Some commenters said they would rather see Zours, the sour version of the candy that was discontinued in 2020, brought back instead.
