Joe Jackson’s life will be the focus of a new documentary series from BLK Prime, with his son Marlon Jackson helping to narrate and develop the project, according to Billboard.
The series, titled The Manager, The Mythology, The Legend, is expected to take viewers inside the story of the man who helped guide the Jackson family from Gary, Indiana, to international fame. It is planned as an eight-episode season.
In a statement shared with Page Six, Marlon said the project is meant to present a more personal and accurate look at his father. He said the series will show the triumphs and challenges that shaped Joe Jackson’s life and legacy.
According to promotional information cited by Billboard, the docuseries will cover Joe Jackson’s early life, ambition, struggles and role in building one of music’s most successful family dynasties. It will also revisit the Jackson 5’s relationship with Motown and the pressures that came with the family’s rapid rise.
BLK Prime has not announced a premiere date yet, but says more information about production and casting will be released in the coming months.
