Maricopa’s new First Fridays series will begin Oct. 2 with a theme that celebrates local royalty, according to InMaricopa.
Event organizer and Councilmember Amber Liermann said the monthly gathering is intended to recognize people who have represented the community in pageants and school courts, including titles tied to Miss Maricopa, Mister MHS, prom and homecoming dating back to 1955.
Participants are being asked to arrive in full regalia, including sashes, crowns and pageant trophies. Liermann said the idea is meant as a tribute to community leaders and a way to build local pride and engagement.
The event will take place on the first Friday of each month, with activities starting at 6 p.m. Organizers say it will be walkable and inclusive, with each month featuring a different community-selected theme.
Those interested in vendor booth information or registration can contact the organizers by email, according to InMaricopa.
