Maricopa Police Foundation golf tournament raises more than $30,000

The Maricopa Police Foundation’s annual golf tournament brought in an estimated more than $30,000 this year, about three times what the event had raised in past years, according to InMaricopa.

The foundation’s biggest fundraising event sold out, with all team spots and sponsorships filled, foundation President Jeremy Waters said. He credited tournament organizer Jim Hart and the planning committee for helping the event grow.

Waters said the community involvement was stronger than ever, with local businesses, community organizations, sponsors and vendors all taking part. The Maricopa Fire-Medical Department also participated in the tournament.

The foundation supports the Maricopa Police Department by helping create positive interactions between residents and police and by maintaining a fund that can assist officers after injuries or other unexpected incidents, Waters said.

Waters said seeing the community rally around the department was especially meaningful. He said it left him feeling happy and proud.
