Police are investigating the death of a woman who was found unconscious in a tent at Houghton festival in north Norfolk over the weekend, according to NME.
The woman, who has not been identified publicly, was discovered on the campsite at Houghton Hall on the festival’s final day. Despite efforts from on-site personnel, she was pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday, August 9.
Authorities are treating the death as unexplained while they wait for the results of a post-mortem examination. Police have said they do not believe there were suspicious circumstances, according to The Independent.
In a statement on the festival’s Instagram page, organisers said they were deeply saddened by the death and offered their condolences to the woman’s family and loved ones. They also thanked the medical team, event response team and Norfolk Constabulary for responding quickly, and said they are continuing to assist with the investigation.
