Lindsey Buckingham’s alleged stalker has been ruled unfit to stand trial, according to NME.
Michelle Dick, 55, is accused of stalking and attacking the Fleetwood Mac guitarist and of violating a restraining order that was taken out against her in 2024. Prosecutors say Dick repeatedly contacted Buckingham without permission between October 2021 and March 2026.
Court filings quoted by NME say Buckingham told authorities that Dick claimed he was her father and accused him of “suffocating her as a child.” He also alleged that she confronted him last March and threw an unknown substance in his face. Police said at the time they believed she had been waiting for his arrival, and Buckingham was not injured.
Judge Robert S. Harrison said Dick was not “trial-competent” or “able to handle your case,” and added that it was medically appropriate to treat her psychiatric condition with medication, following a report from a court-appointed doctor. A further hearing is set for August 27, and Dick could qualify for a mental-health diversion programme that could lead to the charges being dismissed if completed successfully.
