An Asian water monitor lizard was safely returned to its owner after spending nearly a month loose in a Tennessee neighborhood, according to UPI Odd News.
Bedford County Animal Control captured the reptile Friday on Spring Street in Wartrace and shared a photo on social media in an effort to track down its owner.
The Bedford County Sheriff's Office later said the owner was identified and the pet was safely reunited. Officials said the lizard had escaped on July 20 from a home on Spring Street, about half a mile from where it was found.
