Maricopa City Councilmember AnnaMarie Knorr is asking voters to return her to office as Election Day approaches, according to InMaricopa. In a letter to the editor, she said she wants to continue serving the community and pointed to her long history in Maricopa.
Knorr said she has lived in Maricopa for more than 20 years and moved here because of the city’s agricultural roots, small-town feel and family-friendly reputation. She also noted that she is a mother of four and has three children still attending local schools. Before joining the council, she served 12 years on the Maricopa Unified School District Governing Board, including two years as board president.
In her letter, Knorr said her approach on the council is built around listening to residents, staying accessible and asking questions about major decisions. She said public money should be handled with transparency and that large projects should include meaningful public input before decisions are made.
Knorr said she has raised concerns about the Wild West Music Fest, the Gallagher Compensation Study that excluded first responders, and the proposed Iconic Park project. If reelected, she said she would continue pushing for completion of State Route 347 improvements and for additional roadway connections to Interstate 10 for Maricopa’s east side.
She also said developers should pay their share for roads, infrastructure, public safety and city services, and added that local small businesses should have strong support when competing for city contracts. Knorr said she is running on her record, values and promises, and said she has earned endorsements from both the Police and Fire unions.
