John Farnham’s 1986 album Whispering Jack is being marked with a 40th anniversary release, according to Billboard. The expanded edition pairs the original album with Whispering Jack Live In Concert, recorded in Melbourne in 1987.
The live recording has not previously been available on vinyl and was originally released only on DVD. The new limited-edition package is expected to ship on Sept. 18 and will be pressed on black and white vinyl.
Only 2,500 numbered copies will be made, and the collector’s edition features an inverted version of the iconic cover art. A two-CD set will also be available.
To go with the anniversary, Farnham is also releasing new merchandise including apparel, T-shirts, mugs and accessories. Billboard notes that Whispering Jack spent 25 weeks at No. 1 in Australia, sold more than one million copies, and remains the highest-selling album ever by a local Australian artist.
