John Bonham’s 1972 Jensen Interceptor III Is Going to Auction

A 1972 Jensen Interceptor III once owned by Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham is headed to auction this Saturday through Iconic Auctioneers, according to Rolling Stone.

The reef blue car with a red interior is expected to sell for between £40,000 and £50,000, or roughly $53,000 to $66,000. The listing says Bonham’s link to the vehicle is “well documented,” though it does not spell out the full history.

Rolling Stone notes that the car may be the same Jensen Interceptor Bonham reportedly drove into a ditch in September 1977. That incident is mentioned in biographies by Bob Spitz and Chris Salewicz, which describe Bonham crashing an Interceptor after leaving a pub in Worcestershire.

The current owner bought the car in “barn find condition” and restored it between 2020 and 2023, with the work reportedly costing more than £83,000, or about $110,000. Iconic Auctioneers did not immediately say whether this is definitely the same car Bonham crashed.
