Joe Miñoso is set to leave Chicago Fire after 15 seasons, according to E! News. Miñoso has played firefighter Joe Cruz since the NBC drama premiered in 2012.
At the end of season 14 in May, Miñoso was one of four original cast members still on the show. NBC has not said whether the other remaining originals — David Eigenberg, Christian Stolte and Taylor Kinney — will return for season 15.
Even with his exit ahead, Cruz’s story will not end right away. E! News reports that Miñoso will appear in several episodes of the upcoming season, allowing the character’s arc to continue.
The season 14 finale left Cruz and other members of Firehouse 51 heading into a dangerous situation, as they rushed into a burning storage facility that was at risk of collapsing. Miñoso also shared a long run of personal and professional milestones tied to the series, including meeting his wife, Caitlin Murphy Miles, on set and marrying her in 2016.
