Joanna and Chip Gaines are giving fans a fresh look at life after Fixer Upper, with family time and new Magnolia projects still at the center of things, according to E! News.
The couple’s older children, Drake and Ella, are mostly away at college, while Duke, Emmie and Crew remain at home. Joanna wrote in Magnolia Journal that summer now looks different as the family focuses more on what they need during the season.
One recent getaway took the Gaines family to their retreat in the Colorado mountains, which is featured in their latest series, Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House. Joanna shared an Instagram reel on Aug. 3 showing the family fishing, chopping dead trees, making forts, riding bikes and going on hikes.
The article also notes that Chip once asked Ella, a Parsons School of Design student, to design a cottage on the property. Ella previously interned with Joanna and has been involved in the family business before, including spending time at Magnolia headquarters as a child.
Joanna has said the couple’s three-month break in 2024 was intentional, giving them time to regain their footing and think about the future of their business. After years of expanding Magnolia, she said the pause helped them reset and plan what comes next.
