Jack Osbourne has asked fans to share their memories of Ozzy Osbourne as Birmingham prepares for the first-ever Ozzy Day on Wednesday, July 22, according to NME.
In an Instagram video, Jack said the month has brought “ups and downs” and that he has been thinking a lot about the one-year anniversary of his father’s death. He encouraged people to post stories about hearing Ozzy’s music for the first time, seeing him live, meeting him, or what his music meant to them.
Jack said he wants July 22 filled with “awesome Ozzy stories” and asked fans to spread the love rather than focus on sadness. He also said anyone sharing on social media can use the hashtag #OzzyDay.
According to Central BID Birmingham’s Instagram page, the day will include a free city-centre programme of music, memories and tributes. Fans can also expect public art, live performances and other moments celebrating Ozzy’s life, legacy and Birmingham roots.
Ozzy Osbourne died last summer at age 76, just 17 days after his final live show as a solo artist and with Black Sabbath at Birmingham’s Villa Park. His death certificate listed a heart attack as the cause of death, along with coronary heart disease and Parkinson’s.
