Hugh Dancy is celebrating 20 years with wife Claire Danes, and he says there is no magic formula behind their long relationship, according to E! News.
In an exclusive interview, the Law & Order star said he “picked right” and pointed to care, consideration and effort as part of what has kept the marriage strong. He also said that as couples pass milestones like five and 10 years, the meaning of time changes.
Dancy added that every relationship is different and said he does not believe there is one secret that can be handed to everyone else. “We’re just doing our best,” he told E! News.
Danes and Dancy met in 2006 and married three years later. The couple share three children: Cyrus, 13, Rowan, 7, and Shay, 3.
Beyond the anniversary, Dancy is also heading into his sixth season on NBC’s Law & Order as Executive Assistant District Attorney Nolan Price. He said the writers keep shaping the character’s morals and impulses, while Danes recently praised their partnership on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, calling them well-matched and saying, “He’s a swell dude.”
