Graduation day reflections from Desert Sunrise High School seniors

Graduation day at Desert Sunrise High School brought a mix of nerves, excitement and reflection for seniors Kaydence Shipman and Kaylin Hansen, according to InMaricopa. Both described the ceremony as a milestone that felt far away until the moment it finally arrived.

Shipman wrote that putting on a cap and gown made the day feel real, and that the walk onto the field and across the stage was filled with cheers, music and support from family and friends. She also recalled a hug from teacher Mr. Braden before heading up to receive her diploma.

Hansen said she thought about the so-called real world while waiting for her name to be called. She reflected on recent accomplishments, including hosting a car meet, landing a steady job and staying focused on finishing high school.

Both students looked back on the friendships and experiences that shaped their time in high school. Hansen said meeting close friends and her boyfriend during freshman year changed her outlook, while Shipman said junior year helped her value relationships more than grades alone.

By the end of the ceremony, both seniors said the moment arrived and passed quickly. The field notes were published by InMaricopa as part of a graduation-day reflection from Desert Sunrise High School.
