Fujiya & Miyagi have announced a new album called New Shiny Object, which is set for release this fall, according to Stereogum. It will follow the British band’s 2022 album Sight Variations.
The first track from the project is “Lowest Common Denominator,” a song vocalist David Best described as being mainly intended to make people dance. He said the band wanted the album’s songs to feature melodies that connect with listeners while still leaving room and space in the music.
Best also said he believes music does not always need to be emotionally heavy to work, adding that danceability is a valid goal for a song. The band has already shared a self-directed video for “Lowest Common Denominator.”
New Shiny Object includes nine tracks, among them “Point 33 Recurring,” “Elasticated Waste,” “Simple Pleasures,” and the title track. The album is due out October 30 via the band’s own label, Impossible Objects Of Desire, according to Stereogum.
