Folk singer Linda Perhacs reported missing, friends seek information

Linda Perhacs, the folk singer-songwriter who gained cult attention years after her 1970 debut album Parallelograms, has been reported missing, according to Pitchfork.

A group of friends and longtime collaborators, including former manager Laurel Stearns, Julia Holter and DubLab co-founder Mark “Frosty” McNeill, shared a statement online asking for help finding the 82-year-old musician. They said they last heard from her eight months ago and are asking anyone with information about her location or condition to contact Stearns.

Stearns told Pitchfork that she last saw Perhacs eight months ago at an assisted living facility in the San Fernando Valley, where Perhacs had lived for the past eight years. She said Perhacs was later discharged under the supervision of her caregivers, and that repeated attempts to reach Perhacs and her legal guardians have not gotten a response.

According to Stearns, a missing persons report was filed with the Los Angeles Police Department on June 6. Pitchfork reported that police investigated, but could not share Perhacs’ status with friends because they are not legally connected to her as family members or as a caregiver with power of attorney.
