Coy “Denver” Parton, the brother of Dolly Parton, died on July 23 at age 82, according to an obituary shared by Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville, Tennessee. The cause of death has not been released.
Denver Parton worked in construction as a crane operator and, according to the obituary, built bridges during his career. He followed in the footsteps of his late older brother David Parton, and was also known as a dedicated hunter and homestead farmer.
He was one of 12 children born to Lee Parton and Avie Lee Owens Parton. Denver is survived by siblings including Willadeene Parton, Bobby Lee Parton, Stella Parton, Cassie Griffith, Freida Parton, Rachel George, Laura Price and Dolly Parton, as well as his daughters Chris Parton and Jennifer Parton and his grandson, Ian Parton.
Denver’s death comes after the loss of Dolly Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, who died in March 2025 in Nashville. Dolly has also previously mourned several siblings, including Randel Huston “Randy” Parton, Estel “Floyd” Parton and David Parton.
