Elvis Costello has announced a 49th Anniversary Edition box set for his 1977 debut album, My Aim Is True, according to Pitchfork. The release is set for October 2 on UMe.
The package includes 52 unreleased songs, demos, outtakes, and live performances, along with a remastered version of the original 12-track album taken from the analog tapes. It also features handwritten lyrics and essays from Nick Lowe, Rosanne Cash, Peter Wolf, Jim James, and others.
Costello said in the announcement that he did not want to wait for a 50th anniversary release, calling that idea “preposterous.” A preview of the set is already available with a live version of “Watching the Detective.”
According to Pitchfork, Costello is also finishing his 2026 tour with Charlie Sexton.
