Community members gathered on Sept. 17 to celebrate the opening of Dignity Health Family Medicine in the Maricopa Professional Village plaza, according to InMaricopa. The event included a ribbon cutting, remarks from Dignity Health and Maricopa leaders, and tours of the new facility.
Dignity Health Hospital Administration President Mario Garner said the opening marked an important milestone for the community. Although the organization already operates an urgent care clinic about a half-mile south at the Shops at Maricopa Fiesta, this is its first family practice clinic in Maricopa.
The new clinic is designed to offer wellness and preventive care, immunizations, health screenings, sports physicals, low-risk obstetrics and gynecology, mental health services and lab services, according to the report. The office at 21300 N. John Wayne Parkway is open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Abed Asfour, Dignity Health's interim enterprise president, said the team is already considering what else it can add to serve the area. Mayor Nancy Smith also spoke at the celebration and said the partnership means residents will not have to travel on SR 347 for this type of care.
