David Foster is denying claims that he ignored Meghan Markle at a recent red carpet appearance, saying the moment was misread. The music producer addressed the speculation in a statement to People on Aug. 12, according to E! News.
Foster said that, as host of his foundation event, he had already welcomed Prince Harry and Meghan at the entrance about 10 minutes before they were photographed together at the 40th anniversary celebration for his namesake foundation in Victoria, British Columbia, on Aug. 7.
He also said the couple was gracious with guests and that the media had turned a simple effort to line up for the best photo into what he called a hurtful falsehood. Foster added that Harry and Meghan are close friends of his and his wife, Katharine McPhee.
In the moment that drew attention online, Foster was seen walking past Meghan as she extended a hand toward him before he and McPhee joined the royal couple for photos. Foster said there was no awkward interaction and “certainly no snub,” according to E! News.
