Billboard Japan featured rising 18-year-old artist Sasane in its monthly “MONTHLY FEATURE” interview, highlighting the singer behind the viral debut single “mosi mosi?”
According to Billboard, Sasane first began posting acoustic guitar cover videos on TikTok in March 2025 and quickly attracted attention in Japan and overseas thanks to her visual style and personality. Her first original song, released in April, has already surpassed 3 billion plays on TikTok and reached No. 1 on Billboard Japan’s JAPAN Heatseekers Songs chart, which was released June 10.
She followed that song with a second single, “otukare,” in July, which is also drawing strong attention on social media. In the interview, Sasane said her background in dance, design studies, and a love of magazines and collage all help shape how she presents herself as an artist.
Sasane also discussed how “mosi mosi?” came together with producer Tamico Mukoda. She said she wanted the song to feel nostalgic and new at the same time, and described the response to its TikTok release as far beyond what she expected.
