Dave Rowntree says he believes another Blur reunion is likely, calling it “a question of when rather than if” in a recent interview with The Sun, according to NME.
Rowntree pointed to the band’s 2024 Coachella performance, which was their final show before an extended break, and said the group came away from that tour feeling positive about playing together again. He said there is nothing currently in the diary, but added that the absence of plans does not mean much for a band that has often reunited after long gaps.
The drummer said Blur’s occasional returns to the stage and studio keep the experience fresh and exciting. He also said that spending time away from the band allows each member to return with a different perspective on songwriting and musicianship.
Blur released their most recent studio album, The Ballad Of Darren, in 2023. The band has reunited before, including in 2009 and 2015, while the members have also been busy with other projects in the years since their last shows.
