daine is set to release their debut album, In Endless Awe & Agony, later this year, but a dispute over a remix has drawn attention to the hyperpop scene, according to Stereogum.
The friction started after Bassvictim member Ike Clateman made comments on Instagram Live about the remix the duo released last month for daine’s track “PQC.” Clateman said the remix was made quickly and claimed daine’s team repeatedly asked for it.
daine responded to a clip of the livestream that was shared by the TikTok account hyperslopdaily. In the comment, daine said the remarks were “poor taste and weird af,” and said their team had simply asked whether they wanted a Bassvictim remix because “they’re awesome.”
daine added that their teams already knew each other, and said they were “not desperate” and did not “break the bank.”
