A Los Angeles judge has granted Ariana Grande fast-track subpoena power in her effort to identify the people she says hacked her accounts and stole unreleased music, photos and videos, according to Rolling Stone.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mark H. Epstein ruled Wednesday that Grande does not have to wait for the usual notice period because she currently has no way to identify the alleged hackers. In his minute order, the judge wrote that the waiting period would never run since she cannot determine the defendants’ identities without the discovery she is seeking.
Grande filed her invasion of privacy lawsuit on July 27. In court documents, she says the alleged hackers broke into the digital accounts and devices of her photographers and producers using stolen login information and phishing schemes, then accessed unreleased masters, demos and recording-session footage.
Her filings also say that 45 unreleased songs she was working on were stolen and leaked in 2023, and that similar leaks have happened hundreds of times since her 2011 debut. The case is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 25 for a status hearing.
