Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez married in the living room of their home in Portugal on Aug. 11, according to E! News. The date marked exactly 10 years since the couple first met.
Rodríguez told Vogue before the wedding that choosing their home made the ceremony feel more meaningful and intimate. She said she wanted their children to look back one day and remember that something special happened at the family table.
She also said the more private setting fit the life they already share, adding that castles and luxury are familiar to them, but an intimate wedding at home felt more unusual. Ronaldo said the ceremony would be a special day spent in a simple way.
The couple plans to hold a larger celebration with family and friends in the future, according to Rodríguez. After the wedding, they went to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, where a priest gave them a blessing.
