Charlize Theron says flavored potato chips would be enough to lure her into a trance, much like her character Calypso does to Matt Damon’s Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Theron made the comment during the Live from E! Stream at the film’s premiere in New York City on July 14, according to E! News.
When asked what it would take, Theron joked that plain chips would not do the trick. She said she wants flavored varieties instead, naming options like chutney, ketchup and beef stew.
The actress has talked before about how much she likes potato chips. In 2018, she told The Ellen DeGeneres Show that chips were her “drug of choice” while gaining 50 pounds for her role in Tully. She said she kept bags of them in multiple places, including her car, bathroom, kitchen, counter and trailer.
Theron also said that the process affected her mood and energy more than she expected, and that she dealt with depression for the first time. She added that her body no longer bounces back as quickly as it did when she was younger.
