Anne Hathaway says her husband, Adam Shulman, helped inspire her performance in The Odyssey. The actress plays Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, who waits 20 years for his return in the film.
Speaking to Justin Sylvester at the New York City premiere on July 14, Hathaway said she feels like one of the luckiest people on Earth because she met her soulmate and built a family with him, according to E! News. She added that the deep love she shares with Shulman helped her understand the character.
Hathaway said she and co-star Matt Damon, who plays Odysseus, both approached their roles with the perspective of long-term love, noting that both characters were rooted in relationships that felt real to them.
The actress also shared that she and Shulman are expecting their third child. Hathaway, who married the producer and jewelry designer in 2012, said on Late Night With Seth Meyers that the pregnancy came as a surprise, joking that they were shocked it worked and calling the baby their “buzzer-beater.”
