Central Arizona Valley Institute of Technology has released renderings and a floor plan for its planned Maricopa campus, giving the public its first look at the facility proposed for the Heritage District, according to InMaricopa.
CAVIT Superintendent Mike Glover said the campus is expected to open in July 2028. When it opens, it will initially offer three programs: allied health, cosmetology and welding.
The campus will be located across from the Maricopa-Stanfield Justice Court at Madison and Garvey avenues. Glover said the new location should make career training easier for local students to fit into their school day.
According to Glover, many Maricopa high school students currently face a bus ride of about 50 to 55 minutes each way to reach CAVIT’s existing programs in Coolidge. He said the Maricopa campus programs were chosen after the school studied five years of enrollment data from local students and reviewed workforce needs in western Pinal County.
The project is still in the design and planning stage, with construction potentially starting in early 2027. CAVIT’s enrollment has also risen sharply, growing from about 770 students in 2024 to 1,366 today, according to Glover.
