Elizabeth Smart says she is still holding out hope that Nancy Guthrie could be found alive, even though more than 170 days have passed since Guthrie disappeared, according to E! News.
In an exclusive interview with the outlet, Smart said she understands the public may not know every detail of the case and believes investigators may have more information than has been shared. She added that because there is no body, there is still reason not to give up.
Smart also asked people to show compassion for the Guthrie family and urged anyone with even a small piece of information to report it, saying that details that seem minor could matter.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her Arizona home on Jan. 31, and her family reported her missing the next day. Police believe she may have been abducted overnight after surveillance video showed a masked person at her door, according to the report.
Smart’s comments come as she prepares to launch her new podcast, The Survivor Files with Elizabeth Smart, which debuts Aug. 17 on iHeartRadio.
