Brandon Flowers has released a new solo single, “Paradise,” according to NME. The upbeat track is the second song to be shared from his third solo album, Thrasher, which is due out on August 21 through Island.
Flowers previously put out “Plans” last month, giving fans the first preview of the record. In “Paradise,” he sings about work, long hours and the feeling of trying to get by, with lyrics that echo the title of Phil Collins’ 1989 song “Another Day In Paradise.”
On social media, Flowers appeared to reference that connection directly, writing that he was “returning” the song to “its rightful owner.” NME noted that Collins’ original track drew criticism over its portrayal of homelessness.
Thrasher is Flowers’ first full-length solo project in more than a decade, following 2015’s The Desired Effect and his 2010 debut Flamingo. The album was recorded in Nashville and focuses on his childhood in Nephi, Utah, with future solo tour dates planned for the UK, Ireland and North America later this year.
