Bob Dylan’s touring band featured yet another new guitarist on Friday, July 10, when Memphis-based rhythm and blues player and vocalist J. Jad Tariq performed with the group in Cincinnati, Ohio, according to Stereogum.
Tariq stepped in for Julian Lage, who has conflicting European tour dates this month. The change continues a recent pattern of guitar chair shuffling in Dylan’s live setup.
Joel Patterson, a Chicago jazz and blues musician, was also part of the band. He was brought in at the end of last month to replace Doug Lancio and cover for Lage.
As Stereogum noted, the Cincinnati show marked another surprise addition to Dylan’s live lineup, with Tariq now joining the rotation for the current run.
