Blackpink singer Jennie has released a new solo single, “Less Than a Lover,” via OddAtelier/Columbia Records, according to Rolling Stone. The song is described as a summer-themed track about a relationship that falls somewhere between friendship and romance.
Jennie first previewed the single during her headlining performance at Governors Ball in New York City in June. She also paired the release with a cinematic music video that matches the song’s dreamy feel.
In the song, Jennie sings about wanting “a little bit less than a lover,” underscoring the track’s wistful tone. The release follows her debut solo EP, Ruby, which came out last March through her label Odd Atelier.
Since then, Jennie has also reunited with Blackpink for the group’s world tour and the album Deadline, which arrived in February and includes five tracks, among them the comeback single “Jump.” She is set to headline Lollapalooza in Chicago later this month and will make her first appearance at Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival in August.
