According to Pitchfork, Björk marked the one-day Echolalia festival with a rave-like performance under the solar eclipse’s path of totality on August 12. She wore an elaborate balloon gown by Robert Wun from his Fall 2026 Couture Collection and danced with a crowd of about 7,000 at Víðistaðatún sculpture park in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland.
Her hour-long set happened during the exact minute and four seconds when the moon fully covered the sun. The set included music by Rosalía, Kelela, and Marina Herlop, according to the report.
The festival also included a DJ set by Arca and performances by 33EMYBW and Loscaballos, along with Icelandic artists Ronja Jóhannsdóttir, Sideproject, Gummi Arnalds, and Knackered. Echolalia also celebrated the 40th anniversary of Smekkleysa, also known as Bad Taste, an influential Icelandic label founded in 1986.
Attendees could also visit Björk’s Echolalia exhibition at the National Gallery of Iceland, which is open through September 19. The show includes installations tied to songs from her 2022 album Fossora as well as one work connected to a forthcoming album, according to Pitchfork.
