Billie Joe Armstrong unveils limited-edition red Epiphone guitar and Marshall amp

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has announced a limited-edition Radiant Red Epiphone Les Paul Junior guitar along with his first artist signature amplifier with Marshall, according to NME.

The Epiphone model was developed with Armstrong and is a red version of the stripped-back Les Paul Junior style that has been part of his sound for more than 20 years. It features a mahogany body, a set mahogany neck, a rosewood fretboard, one Epiphone P-90 PRO pickup, and simple volume and tone controls.

Epiphone says the guitar is built around a straightforward punk-rock setup with “one pickup, two knobs, and absolutely no distractions.” It also includes Armstrong’s signature on the back of the headstock and comes with a black hard shell case with a leopard-print interior.

Armstrong’s Marshall signature amp, the 1959BJA Artist Signature, is Marshall’s first artist signature model in 14 years. Based on the company’s handwired 1959HW platform, it includes a custom “Dookie Mod” tied to the tone Armstrong and producer Rob Cavallo created during Green Day’s 1994 album Dookie.

The amplifier is finished in baby blue as a nod to Armstrong’s first guitar, “Blue,” and features brass and silver details plus his signature on the front and rear panels. Armstrong said he was excited to have his own signature Marshall amp and added, “Turn it the fuck up!”
