Banned Maricopa shopper arrested after alleged Fry’s burglary

A Maricopa man was arrested after police say he shoplifted from a Fry’s Marketplace he had already been banned from, according to InMaricopa.

Store security at the John Wayne Parkway location reportedly saw 58-year-old Bennie Williams fill a shopping cart with merchandise and leave without paying around 5 p.m. on July 4. The stolen items were valued at $161.29, according to a probable cause statement.

Williams had been trespassed from the store in September 2025 after a similar shoplifting incident. At that time, he was released after signing a notice agreeing to stay away from the property.

Police found Williams in the store’s security office. According to the report, he said he did not remember being banned from the store before declining to answer further questions. Williams was arrested on suspicion of third-degree burglary, a Class 4 felony.
