According to ABC News, Ariana Grande has launched the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation to support causes she has backed for years, including LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive health, immigrant rights and mental health.
Grande had previously made a number of quiet donations, including gifts to England’s Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, nonprofit proceeds from performances and support for a holiday gift drive for transgender young people. She also helped raise $3 million for transgender youths in 2022.
The new foundation was launched in May and is being promoted during her Eternal Sunshine Tour. According to the report, tour stops will spotlight national and local nonprofits, with grantee names appearing on arena screens during the pre-show countdown.
Shauna Nep, Grande’s philanthropic adviser, said the singer decided to formalize her giving as support for these causes has declined. The foundation is a fiscally sponsored project of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, and its largest fund, called “Protect and Defend,” supports legal and legislative work for transgender youths, immigrants and reproductive rights.
One of the groups Grande has supported is Trans Lifeline, which says it received $125,000 total from her foundation and personal giving. The organization said the money helped restart a microgrants program and improve benefits for its direct-service crisis workers.
