Alabama Shakes set first album in 11 years for August 28

Alabama Shakes have announced their first album in 11 years. I Must Be Dreaming is set for release on August 28 through Island, according to Pitchfork.

The album will include the previously released songs “American Dream” and “Another Life,” along with a new single called “I Feel Hope Coming,” which the band shared on July 10.

In a statement, singer Brittany Howard said the title has more than one meaning. She explained that it can reflect a reaction to how chaotic the world feels, while also pointing to how beautiful it can be.

The band’s lineup of Howard, Heath Fogg, and Zac Cockrell recorded the follow-up to 2015’s Sound & Color after reuniting for a surprise live performance in December 2024. The trio have continued touring on and off since then, and their current run is scheduled to continue through the end of September.

Pitchfork also published the album’s tracklist and cover art, along with the band’s upcoming tour dates.
