Akriila shares exclusive playlist teasing her second album for NME's The Cover

Akriila has put together an exclusive playlist for NME's The Cover that also points toward her next album, Lucy Miró Al Mundo Y Notó Que Está Girando, Es Mi Segundo Disco. The Chilean singer and rapper's new record is due to be her second full-length release.

In the Cover story by Charis McGowan, with photography by Lo Harley, Akriila also gave the album an English title: Lucy Looked At The World, And Noticed That It’s Spinning. The playlist tied to the feature is called Lucy Is The New Hopecore.

According to NME, the playlist includes music from artists such as Bassvictim, Corridos Ketamina, Chanel Beads and Jane Remover under the Venturing name, alongside older influences like PJ Harvey and The Beatles. Akriila has already previewed the album with three singles: Partedemipartedeti, Roger and Suave, featuring Jane Remover.

Akriila also spoke to NME about her upbringing in Santiago, learning guitar on her own, and finding her voice through the city's trap scene. She said the pandemic and protests left her generation unsure of what to do next, and that music became central as she worked out what she wanted to make.
