Storm Reid says new music will show a more personal side of her

Storm Reid says she wants her new music to show fans a side of her that goes beyond her polished image as an actor. The Emmy winner released her new single, “Shotty,” on Friday, according to ABC News.

Reid, known for her roles in “Euphoria,” “A Wrinkle in Time” and “The Last of Us,” said the song reflects a more personal version of herself — a 23-year-old from Atlanta navigating love and relationship troubles while still figuring things out. She said people may assume she has everything together, even though that is not always the case.

“Shotty” follows her debut single, “Clean Sweep,” and continues a music path she has been building over the past year. Reid said she has recorded more than 25 songs so far and hopes to eventually shape her first EP after finishing work on Teyana Taylor’s feature directorial debut, “Get Lite.”

She is releasing music independently through her label, 1720 Music, and said that approach gives her more creative control. Reid also said she wants to use that independence to create opportunities for other artists, including songwriters, producers and performers.

Along with music, Reid plans to keep acting, with upcoming projects including Netflix’s “Roommates” and “Get Lite.” She said she wants her music and acting to grow side by side, and that not every part of her life has to look perfect.
