Will Ferrell's son says his birth paused filming on Kicking & Screaming

Magnus Ferrell says his birth brought filming on the 2005 sports comedy Kicking & Screaming to a temporary stop. In an exclusive interview with E! News’ The Rundown host Erin Lim Rhodes, Magnus said production had to pause because his mother, Viveca Paulin, went into labor with him.

“It’s a true story, I swear,” Magnus said, adding jokingly that he came “out the womb with boots on.” He said that early connection may have helped spark his longtime love of soccer.

Magnus told E! News he grew up admiring players such as Marco Reus, Lionel Messi and Xavi Hernández, especially the Barcelona teams he loved to watch. He also recalled getting a full Barcelona kit from his mom and sleeping in his shin guards, cleats and uniform before waking his parents up early to play.

Now 22, Magnus is focusing on music. His residency, Magnus Ferrell and Friends Live, launched July 21 at Los Angeles’ Blue Note club, with more shows set for Aug. 18 and Sept. 21, according to E! News.

He also spoke about the attention his song “Asleep Talking” received after Michelle Obama heard it during Will Ferrell’s appearance on the former first lady’s IMO podcast earlier this year. Magnus said he was also excited by praise from Justin Timberlake, who commented “Bravo!!!!” on an Instagram post of the song.
