Vincent Pastore, known for 'The Sopranos,' dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, who became widely known for his role on “The Sopranos,” has died at age 80, according to CBS News. His manager, Robert Attermann, confirmed the news in a statement.

Attermann said he had represented Pastore for more than 30 years, describing him as far more than the character that made him famous. Pastore was found dead inside his Bronx home on Saturday afternoon, and authorities said there was no indication of criminality.

Pastore played Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero throughout all six seasons of “The Sopranos,” which aired from 1999 to 2007. His character was killed off in season two after being exposed as an FBI informant, but Pastore later returned for guest appearances in the series.

Born in the Bronx on July 14, 1946, Pastore served in the Vietnam War before earning a drama degree from Pace University. His film credits included “Goodfellas,” “Carlito’s Way,” and “Men of Respect,” and he also appeared on shows including “Law & Order,” “Blue Bloods,” “General Hospital,” and “Celebrity Apprentice,” according to CBS News.
