Two people died after a house fire broke out in a Glennwilde home Friday morning, according to the Maricopa Fire/Medical Department.
Fire crews were called to the home near Portarosa Drive and Corvalis Lane around 11:36 a.m. Officials said firefighters from Chandler and Phoenix also responded to the scene.
According to an MFMD spokesperson, the fire has been put out, but investigators remain on scene. The department’s arson investigator is working with police investigators as the cause of the fire is still being examined.
The identities of the two people who died have not been released. Photos from the scene showed significant damage to the home, including a large opening in the roof and heavy fire damage at the front entrance, according to InMaricopa.
