Trey Songz has avoided jail time after his arrest last year in New York City, according to Rolling Stone. The R&B singer, whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, was sentenced on Wednesday to one year of conditional discharge in a case tied to a second-degree harassment violation.
Billboard reported that if Neverson stays in compliance with the terms of the sentence for the next 365 days, he will not face incarceration or probation. The outcome followed a change from an earlier misdemeanor plea.
Last December, Neverson was arrested after two separate incidents at different New York City venues. In the first case, Manhattan prosecutors accused him of striking a nightclub employee in the face at Dramma Night Club in Times Square on Dec. 4.
In a second incident, prosecutors said Neverson caused about $1,500 in damage at Mira restaurant and hookah lounge, including hookahs, DJ equipment and sofas. His lawyer said the situation was not his client’s fault, and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office later dropped the felony charge connected to that case.
