The Avalanches have released a new single featuring Karen O, according to Pitchfork. The song, titled “Blue Shadows,” asks the question, “Does anybody know how to mend a broken heart?”
The track is built around a prominent sample of “Shadows From Nowhere,” a 1983 Italo single by composer Celso Valli, who recorded it under the name Blue Gas.
The new release adds to a busy year for the Australian trio of Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi, and Andy Szekeres. They first returned in May with “Together,” their first new song in six years.
Since then, The Avalanches have also released “Every Single Weekend” with Jamie xx last month. Their most recent album, We Will Always Love You, came out in 2020, and Karen O briefly appeared on that record on the interlude “Dial D for Devotion.”
