Tate McRae is facing a wave of online speculation after commenters began suggesting she may be MAGA, according to Rolling Stone. The discussion intensified after a recent Variety cover story raised questions about why she avoids weighing in on politics.
In that interview, McRae said, “I think it’s pretty obvious what kind of person I am and the things I support,” adding that she hopes fans can see that through where she puts her energy. Rolling Stone noted that she has backed organizations including the Trevor Project and Global Fund for Women.
Some of the online reaction has centered on her collaboration with Morgan Wallen and her rumored relationship with NHL player Jack Hughes. McRae previously told Rolling Stone she only wanted to make a country song when she teamed with Wallen on “What I Want,” and said she had never met him in person.
McRae also told Variety that she would rather “say my piece through organizations I support and the environment that I have on tour.” She told Rolling Stone that a lot gets twisted online and said, “You have to have humor with it, otherwise you would go insane.”
